I would like to recommend this book because if you like adventures, this book would be good for you. There are children in this book. There might be another family along the way. This book is mostly good for a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th grader. There are surprises along the way. I definitely recomend this book!

This book is about dangerous animals and how they defend themselves. Also it is about what they eat and their habitat. You learn what to do if you find one and how they hunt like, for example, If they trap their prey or just attack it? .It tells you if their big or small. I do recommend this book because you get to learn what the animals do for defense and offence.
~Illian This book is about a couple of people who were explorers and set off for a journey to find the Titanic. The Titanic was a big ship who hit an iceberg and sank on April 15, 1915 at 12:30 A.M. Many people died and there were not a lot of survivors. The explorers looked and looked day and night. That is when they found a gray big object lying on the ocean floor. That was it. That was the Titanic's boiler. Now they found the boiler, find out what happens next!
I do recommend this book because it tells you a lot of interesting fun facts, cool pictures, and I loved it so much I couldn't take my eyes off of it. It was an amazing book. I think everyone in the world should read it. Now I love to read books about the Titanic to learn more about it. It tells you so much and it shows you real pictures of the journey. I hope a lot of people and kids read this book, Finding the Titanic. This year we will travel the seven continents to learn about different communities. We will focus heavily on the culture, geography, and wildlife of each country we study. Our first trip will be to Australia but first we have been learning some important map skills. We've spent most of September and October learning to read maps, globes, compass roses, map keys, etc. Here we are making our own maps..... Today we learned about longitude and latitude....
It has been wonderful to meet our first grade reading buddies from Mrs. Molloy's class! This is the first time most of us have been the "older" buddy and with that comes a lot of responsibility. We have been learning about the importance of being responsible role models. On day 6 we will meet with Mrs. Molloy's class to work on reading and writing skills. The lessons are designed to provide opportunities for both buddies to work on reading comprehension, fluency, and writing about reading. We can't wait to share our projects with you throughout the year! We have been reviewing place value concepts during math. Recently we made "Place Value Power Towers" The challenge was simple, you needed to make a tower with exactly 25 place value blocks. Afterwards, we used our knowledge of place value to fill out the amount used of each block and the value for each place. Figuring out the total value of each tower was challenging, but we did it!
It has been a wonderful start to the school year! We have been working hard and learning more about our new classmates. I can't wait to check out all of the "Brown Bag Biographies" this week. We started our first math unit; place value. We are also spending a few weeks reviewing addition and subtraction facts. We will be moving full steam ahead with multiplication and division shortly, so it's very important to put forth your BEST effort. Trust us....knowing these facts will make 3rd grade math a lot easier and these facts are something you will use DAILY throughout life :) Thank you for all of your hard work. We are proud of you and look forward to the upcoming weeks! Mrs. Peek & Mrs. Newkirk :) Welcome back to school! We had a great first day back and it was great to see you all again :) We have been busy at work this summer cleaning, organizing, and decorating our classroom. ![]() Written by: Skylar We have been very busy. The past couple of days left in school we have been creating our own business called the Peek Press. The team is writing three main articles. There will be articles about The World Cup, Fifth Grade Graduation, and The Summer Slide. There will also be comics from the art department. Thanks to Adriana and Jazmyn, from the art department for creating a great logo. The logo is the Peek Press on a chalk board. Also thanks to Sadie, our editor in chief, for creating a great slogan. The slogan is "peek every week". We all work as a team because we're trying to make our first newspaper and we've all been working hard. Also our writing team has been doing a good job interviewing, typing out articles, and printing them out. I think we've all been making an improvement since the first week we started!!!!!!!! |
