Our good friend Julia has been having a wonderful time in Japan! She was kind enough to write us a letter that I will post below. Julia, we are so excited for you! We miss you and can't wait to hear even more about your trip!
Dear Peekirks, Hi everyone. Happy new year! How are you? I am doing great. I start in Japanese school tomorrow. I had to buy new shoes to wear inside because we can't wear our outside shoes in the school. This is to keep the floor clean. The kids also clean the floor every day after lunch, by themselves! I also had to get a towel to clean the floor with. And new pencils. There will be an assembly tomorrow and the teacher will introduce me to the whole school. I am going to be in a class with some friends I made last year when I came. I am bringing them all candy canes as a present, because they do not have candy canes in Japan. We climbed a mountain and went to a castle at the top yesterday. We also went on a trip and at the service area they had cookies in the shape of ninjas. My brother loved them! I had a play date with a friend of mine name Aoi. We played shopkins - I showed her mine. They don't have shopkins in Japan. But they have really cute, small erasers. I got an eraser in the shape of a shoe and one is a back pack. My brother got two erasers - one is a fork and one is a spoon. I will write more to tell you about my school. Julia This book is about volcanoes and how they erupt. Volcanoes are an opening in earths surface. When a volcano erupts it blows out metled rock, ash and others. Some volcanoes blow out lava. The lava might drip out of the volcano. The lava goes miles long deep inside the earth. When volcanoes start to erupt earths temperatures are so high that rock melts. The ash is mixed with hot poisonous gases. I hope you like this book have fun reading it.
I definitely recommend this book because it tells how the volcano blows up the pressure or temperature of the earth. It is very detailed it shows were volcanoes blow up. Some important words are in this amazing book. I hope people that read it will be inspired about volcanoes. This book is about very weird but true facts. A weird fact is you will likely get 10,000 small cuts, bruises and sprains in your lifetime. 2. You can see a glass frog`s heart beating through it`s skin. 3. Some millipedes glow in the dark. Cool right?!?1 4. Orange snow once fell in Siberia. 5. In
Japan you can buy octopus flavored ice cream. If you think these facts are cool, read the book, it has 300 cool facts! I definitely recommend this book if you liked all the facts you just heard. So remember, if you liked these facts, read the book! Congratulations to our wonderful students, family & community members, administration, and our teachers and staff members! We are proud to call Voorheesville Elementary a Blue Ribbon School!!!
This book is about Tornadoes. They are very wild and dangerous storms. They can cause a lot of damage. When kids are at school, and then tornadoes happen, they go on their knees and cover their heads looking at the floor. The teacher helps them do it and shows them how to do it the first time.
I do recommend this book because if you live where tornadoes happen this book shows you how to be safe. If you are in school it can help you to be safe. If you like tornadoes then you shoud read this book. I hope you read it. Happy reading! We had such a wonderful Halloween here at school. Thank you so much to our volunteers for planning such a great party. Please check out the Halloween pictures under the "pictures" tab to see all of our awesome costumes.
This book is about Tornadoes by Brian Cassie. I learned that some form over land and some form over water.I learned that some winds are so fast that they can pick up cars, trucks, and even sometimes buildings. Lastly, I learned that it starts with wind and hard rain, then the thunder and lightning comes, then it hails and then comes the tornado.
I would recommend this book because it tells you a lot about a tornado by showing you a picture on every page. It also tells you where they form and how they start. I recommend this book for people who are studying a tornado or just want to read about the awesome tornadoes. HAPPY READING This book is about ocean giants. Ocean Giants has LOTS of fun facts on page 4-31. There are all kinds of things like fish, squid and submarines and everything you could imagine. I am telling you it is awesome!
I would recommend this book because it is an amazing way to learn about lost of animals like sharks, seals, whales, walruses and even manatees. So let me tell you now, THIS BOOK IS AMAZING!!! Fun fact: Scientists found a new squid called the colossal! This book is about a little boy named Freddy. He is in 3rd grade. There is Max, Chloe, Robbie, and Jessie. They are all in 3rd grade also. Max is a big bully and Chloe is the biggest baby. Freddy's class is going on a field trip to the apple orchard. Their class went on a hay ride. Mr. Bob drove the tractor. He explained that there is going to be an apple orchard race. A wooden apple is hidden in the trees. Whoever finds it first gets 5 dollars. Who will win?
I do recommend this book because it is funny. Freddy almost forgot to put his clothes on him instead of his p.j.s. He had to wear a red shirt and he could not find it so Freddy made a mess in his room. And the bathroom. Also he woke up late so he had to go so fast, that he lost his mind! Freddy and Max got lost in the appel orchard. and started to cry. That why I think this book was funny. |
