Our good friend Julia has been having a wonderful time in Japan! She was kind enough to write us a letter that I will post below. Julia, we are so excited for you! We miss you and can't wait to hear even more about your trip!
Dear Peekirks, Hi everyone. Happy new year! How are you? I am doing great. I start in Japanese school tomorrow. I had to buy new shoes to wear inside because we can't wear our outside shoes in the school. This is to keep the floor clean. The kids also clean the floor every day after lunch, by themselves! I also had to get a towel to clean the floor with. And new pencils. There will be an assembly tomorrow and the teacher will introduce me to the whole school. I am going to be in a class with some friends I made last year when I came. I am bringing them all candy canes as a present, because they do not have candy canes in Japan. We climbed a mountain and went to a castle at the top yesterday. We also went on a trip and at the service area they had cookies in the shape of ninjas. My brother loved them! I had a play date with a friend of mine name Aoi. We played shopkins - I showed her mine. They don't have shopkins in Japan. But they have really cute, small erasers. I got an eraser in the shape of a shoe and one is a back pack. My brother got two erasers - one is a fork and one is a spoon. I will write more to tell you about my school. Julia |
