My science fair project was about a hovercraft. I got a special award for it and not many people get it so I feel special. If you are wondering where I got the idea from it wasn’t mine, it was my brothers. It took a while but it worked!
First I got a special award that not many people get, so I felt special. When I first got it I had no idea what it was until, Ms. Peek told me what it was from the science fair and I was so excited I almost blew up with excitement on the inside. Second If you were wondering where I got the idea from , it wasn’t mine it was my brothers. But my brother got It from a science book (star Wars) and he told me and we loved it. Finely it took a while but it worked! Before using it we had to make it. Fun fact: me and my brother did all this without my Dad. Our science fair project was to erupt a volcano. Our question was, "how does a volcano erupt?" Our hypothesis was because of global warming and lots of pressure.
We made a volcano out of clay. Then we added vinegar, baking soda and dish soap. We put it in the volcano and then bubbles came out of the volcano. The bubbles went down the volcano and that’s how it erupted. Our conclusion was volcanoes erupt by baking soda, vinegar and , dish soap. They also erupt by lots of pressure. We had lots of fun doing the science project and we hope we do another cool science fair project like that one. By Molly & Olivia
We did a third grade musical .We were ladybugs ,fireflies , army ants and butterflies/caterpillars. It was amazing when the firefly song came on because all of the lights in the auditorium went off and we made 8’s with our flash lights. It was so pretty ! The girls from Wissing ,Newkirk/Peek were ladybugs. Our song was about how to have good manners.”Be a lady... whoa, whoa, be a lady... that’s what I am...” was one of the lyrics. We also had Army Ants. The boys in Mrs. Wissing and Mrs. Peek/Newkirk were Army Ants. They were tough, and strong. That is what their song was about. There were also butterflies /caterpillars. It was awesome when they grew there wings We were nervous and excited . It was our first play and it was in front of the whole school. For the 2015 VES science fair I did an experiment on optical illusions. You may have been fooled by the word optical, but optical illusions have nothing to do with the eye, but all with the brain.
My question was how do optical illusions work. My hypothesis was something to do with the eye. I was wrong. I had lots of fun. I had a really cool illusion where it read good and evil. If I were you, next year I would do the science fair. Congratulations to all of our science fair participants! We are SO proud of you! Stay tuned for individual blog posts about each project :)
![]() By Molly, Kali, and Jake Today in "Good Eats" we learned about honey. The lightest honey was clover honey. In our opinion it was okay. We also learned about the wild flower honey, it was the 2nd lightest honey. In our opinion it was also okay. Also we learned about the honey called Buckwheat. It is the darkest honey. In our opinion we thought it was the worst. Some facts we have learned are that bees have 2 stomachs. One for eating and the other for honey. Also, women bees are the only bees that make honey. Other bees take the water out and produce it. Then other bees flap their wings to dry it. (To get the honey out of their body they throw it up). One other fact is that honey is sweet! Honey can help people with pollen allergens. It can also help sore throats! That is what we learned about in Good Eats! Written By: Paige and Ryan
On March 5, 2015 the Saratoga Opera came to our school. They did the "Three Little Pigs". The pigs names were Don Giavonni, who built his house out of sticks, and Cherobino, who built a house out of straw. They love to play swords but do not like the library. Also, there is a sister named Despina. She likes the library. She did not know what to build her house out of so she went to the library and found out she should make her house out of bricks. The wolf blew down the stick house. Don Giavonni ran to his brothers house. Then the wolf blew down the straw house. The two brothers ran to their sister's house and the wolf knocked on the door and pretended he was Despina. They opened the door, saw the wolf, and slammed the door shut. The wolf climbed up the chimney but he landed in the soup and got cooked. Our music teacher, Dr. Morgan, taught us how to say bravo, for a boy or boys. She also taught us to say brava for a girl or girls. If it is a boy and a girl you say bravi if you like a song. Or you can say them at the end of the opera. If you really like it you say bravissimo. Do not say these words more than once. Our favorite character was Despina. I think the wolf was funny because he smelled the pigs and exclaimed "Mmm, porkchop". They had complex and very well painted props. We enjoyed the show! |
